Croft Circuit, CSCC Swinging Sixties, in The Datsun 240Z

No test session was undertaken on the Datsun since Silverstone. The test day at Croft on Friday should have been used to make adjustments that were badly needed. As it turned out the day was used for ,owner, Dean to learn the circuit, being a total novice. Wil managed about 3 or 4 laps just to get the feel of the car as it stood.

‘The car is still a handful.’ Wil said.

Some adjustments were made to springs and camber after qualifying. Wil was able to qualify the car 6th overall.

In the race, the car was still a handful with the rear brakes getting too hot and locking up, causing Wil to spin. At the driver change Wil was in the lead. A slower than usual pit stop meant loosing a position that would have seen the car on the podium. The eventual result was a 4th overall and 3rd in class. The car is now going to get some needed adjustments for ‘her’ next outing at Castle Combe Circuit in August.
