The Datsun 240z after a test day at Snetterton the week before was looking good to be qualified on the first 2 rows in Wil’s capable hands. The weather was against us and the qualifying session was behind the safety car. So 3 laps for the necessary minimum requirement to qualify for each driver.

The grid was a lottery, with us put down to 16th. It was agreed that Dean Halsey (owner of The Datsun) should start the race and do the minimum time allowed for the pit window. Dean got the car up to 11th at the change over. Wil took to the track in 24th place. After some stonking laps got up to 10th when he heard a tingling sound, the clutch having given up. To avoid any serious damage Wil retired the car. The team a little disappointed as there was a definite podium achievable.

The next race is at Silverstone in the 240Z on May 5.
