As is becoming a norm, Wil was asked to test a Van Diemen RF82 formula Ford 2000 for Steve Conner. When Wil tested the car it was in good shape and driving very well, with these comments, Steve asked if Wil wanted to race the car at the HSCC Legends meeting.

Qualifying there was a problem , the engine had a misfire. Wil still qualified 3nd in class. Work was carried out on what the team thought the problem was. In the race Wil had a great start overtaking much faster cars. Once again the gremlins were making an appearance. he misfire returned. Wil does not like retiring in a race unless it is terminal managed to nurse the car to a respectable finish.

Race two the next day. Again the team had worked hard and ‘fixed the problem’. in the race the misfire reared it’s head once again. The car finished and it was later found that the coil was the culprit!
